This is Whole Dried Reishi, not powdered like most commonly found. Reishi is a polypore mushroom that usually grows on dead or dying hardwood trees and stumps in temperate regions of the world. It's also known as "Lingzhi" (soul/spirit) mushroom. Reishi is a potent fungus that has played an important role in the traditional healing systems of China for centuries. It is thought to contain hundreds of bioactive compounds that may help balance the immune system, and to have anti-inflammatory, anti-tumour, sleep-promoting, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-diabetic, anti-oxidative, anti-ageing and anti-ulcer qualities, ect.

The most common method of consuming dried reishi mushrooms is to make a tea. The tea can be prepared by simmering the mushroom in water for about three hours. Reishi can also be added to soups, which should be simmered for two to three hours as well.
In prepared dishes, they are most commonly used sparingly, as an accent, due to the strong, earthy flavour. Reishi, as well as other mushrooms, should be cooked before consumption.

Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.

We recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using any herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications.

Reishi Mushroom Broth
Ingredients:

10–15g dried reishi mushroom slices or chunks
1 small onion, halved (skin on for extra minerals)
2 garlic cloves, smashed
1-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced
1 stalk celery or small carrot (optional, for flavor)
1 tsp whole black peppercorns
1–2 dried shiitake or maitake mushrooms (optional, for added umami)
8 cups (2 liters) water
Salt to taste (optional)
Optional: a small piece of kombu (for minerals and umami)

How to:
Combine ingredients
Add all ingredients to a large pot with the water.
Simmer slowly
Bring to a boil, then reduce to a very low simmer.
Cover and simmer gently for 2 to 4 hours (the longer, the stronger the extraction).
Strain
Strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth.
Discard solids (reishi is not eaten — it’s purely medicinal and very tough).
Store
Let cool and store in jars. Keeps for up to 5 days in the fridge.

Suggested Use:
Drink warm as a daily immune-supporting tonic
Use as the liquid base for soups, congee, risotto, or noodles
Mix with bone broth for a richer, medicinal version

Tips:
The broth will be earthy and slightly bitter — balance with a touch of soy sauce, miso, or lemon if sipping solo
Avoid high heat or long boils after straining to preserve beneficial compounds
Use in moderation, especially if you’re on medication or pregnant — always check with a healthcare provider
