Kaluga caviar offers a rich, creamy flavour with a soft, explosive texture that bursts in your mouth, releasing a delightful buttery aroma and a long-lasting finish. Our Kaluga Hybrid caviar comes from a hybrid of Huso dauricus sturgeon (Kaluga) and Acipenser schrenckii (Amur). It is carefully selected, using ancient and delicate traditional techniques, the eggs are checked, re-rinsed, salted and sealed in tins in less then ten minutes after the roe is taken. The sturgeons are 8-10 years old with a weight of 30-80kg. Due to natural variations in the fish, there’s no fixed colour. Kaluga typically displays bright amber tones. The roe size is larger and more plump, typically measuring above 3.0mm.
Kaluga caviar comes from the sturgeon species Huso Dauricus also referred to as the River Beluga. This species is known to be the largest predatory fish in the Amur River Basin and is revered as the largest freshwater fish in the world. Our Kaluga caviar only consists of two ingredients, Sturgeon roe and salt. Common methods of preparation include serving on crackers, toast, or blinis accompanied with condiments such as crème fraise, chives, and/or hardboiled egg whites.
IMPORTANT: Avoid using a silver or stainless-steel spoon as it will alter flavour. We suggest to use Mother of peal spoons, which can also be found on our website.
Perishable, must keep in refrigeration between 0-2.7 °C. Must consume immediately upon opening, do not save any for later. Product of China. INGREDIENTS: Sturgeon Roe (Huso Dauricus* Acipenser Schrenckii), 3.5% Salt.
