Chile Lime Crunchy Corn is made from giant heirloom white corn kernels that are lightly fried and tossed in tangy chile-lime seasoning to create a perfect snack item. Enjoy as is or incorporate into a snack mix. Crush and use as breading for fish or chicken, Sprinkle over soup or chili prior to serving for a unique textural addition.
This unique Peruvian product is known for its pleasant crunch, pure white color, circular fan shape and its exceptional size. For thousands of years, giant corn has grown exclusively in Peru due to an ideal combination of altitude, sunlight and rich soil. For over 20 centuries, farmers have dried the corn according to an ancient custom that requires a combination of frost at night and bright sunshine for 45 days.
Crunchy Corn is similar to a snack referred to as "cancha" in Peru and Columbia, and are prepared by soaking whole corn kernels in water for three days, then deep-frying them in oil until they are hard and brittle.
